The ecological summer camp "Let's protect gazelles!", organized within the framework of "Reintroduction of gazelles to their historical habitat areas in Caucasus" program, was held in cooperation with IDEA Campaign, the Ecological Training and Experience Center of the Ministry of Education and the representative office of the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) in Azerbaijan. The camp, that took place in Goygol region from 6 July until 8 July 2016, involved over 70 school-children from Goranboy, Samukh, Gakh and Shaki regions.
Our annual summer camps are designed to teach youth the value of nature and need for conservation of local wildlife. The "Let's protect gazelles!" camp focused on bringing awareness about gazelle species that were reintroduced in areas where inhabitants reside. During the course of the camp, participants were broadly informed about gazelles’ lifestyle, their habitat and role in nature. Children also engaged in various ecological research activities, quiz games and competitions and had a trip to Goygol National Park. At the end, participants were given certificates and memory gifts.
Launched by Heydar Aliyev Foundation in 2010, the "Reintroduction of gazelles to their historical habitat areas in Caucasus" program is being successfully implement by IDEA Campaign, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and WWF Azerbaijan. During the past years 150 gazelle were reintroduced in their historical habitat areas in Azerbaijan (Shirvan National Park) and the Republic of Georgia, and were monitored since then.
Devoted to the protection of environment and biological diversity, IDEA Campaign conducts various types of camps annually, in partnership with WWF Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
