A volunteer work day was held in educational institutions within the “Spring Yards” project

On 29 April 2016, a volunteer work day was held in educational institutions within the “Spring Yards” project.                 

Organized by the Ministry of Education and IDEA Public Union, and with the support of “Bir” Student-Volunteer Program, the project envisages activities aimed at raising awareness among schoolchildren and students about environmental protection.

 

The project is implemented in educational institutions of 48 districts and cities of Azerbaijan. Nearly 12,000 tree seedlings will be planted in outdoor areas of campuses till May 1st.

Further, “Spring Yards” project includes a contest to be organized at 26 schools of Baku, Ganja and Sumgayit cities. Under the terms of the contest, clean-ups of outdoor areas of educational institutions, planting of greeneries and whitewashing of tree trunks will be carried out by both the pedagogical staff and schoolchildren of the selected schools, and helped by student volunteers. At the conclusion of the project, representatives of the Ministry of Education, IDEA Public Union and “Bir” Student-Volunteer Program will select the winning schools.
