IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) campaign held a seminar on the occasion of “International Biodiversity Day” in May 22, 2013. The seminar took place in the IDEA Resource Center, which is situated at the Academy of Public Administration under President of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of more than 20 young people having a special interest in environment and protection of biodiversity.

Chairman of Azerbaijan Ornithological Society, Dr. Elchin Sultanov took part as an expert in the event.

The seminar was conducted interactively and became memorable with the interesting discussions of the young. It was emphasized in the event that, nowadays there are more than 15 million living species in the world and hundreds of them are destroyed every day. Humanity is damaged a lot due to these losses.

It was noted that, if no actions were taken for the protection of underwater world, more than half of the plant and animal species could face threat of extinction till 2100.

After the seminar, birdhouses made according to winner sketch of the “Birdhouse design” competition announced in May 2012 by IDEA campaign were installed in Philharmonic Garden with the participation of Dr. Elchin Sultanov and the young people participated in the event.

It should be noted that, IDEA campaign takes measures in the direction of putting awareness on safeguarding of biodiversity by setting regional and international cooperation network on environmental protection.
