World Environment Day is celebrated annually to raise global awareness of the need to take environmental action. The event, which involved more than 25 students having interest in environmental protection and teachers dealing with this field, took place at the IDEA Resource Center and featured interesting discussions on environmental preservation.

Prof. Elman Yusifov, a department head at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Zoology Institute, attended the seminar as an expert. Mr. Yusifov provided detailed information about the Azerbaijani fauna and flora, reasons for landscape diversity, as well as diversity of the fauna and flora of plains and mountains. He mentioned that Azerbaijan possesses beautiful nature, rich flora and fauna, and useful natural resources.

IDEA has been promoting innovative approaches to the solution of environmental problems since its inception in July 12, 2011 by the Vice President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.

IDEA is based on the principles of dialogue, action, leadership and education -- all essential components for equipping a generation to foster positive and sustainable environmental change. The campaign is mainly focusing on the power of youth and considers it as an important tool to change the way we behave and consume our surrounding natural world.
