IDEA became the official national coordinator for Earth Hour 2017

IDEA Campaign has once again been endorsed by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as the official Country Management Team of the Earth Hour 2017 campaign in Azerbaijan. In this regard, on 25 March 2017 mass public events are expected to be held in Azerbaijan in celebration of the 10th year anniversary of the Earth Hour.

Earth Hour is the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, empowering millions to take action to change climate change. Last year a record breaking 178 countries and territories across seven continents and aboard the International Space Station have taken part in the annual event, which has grown significantly since it began as a simple lights out event in Sydney, Australia, in 2007.

In line with the global theme to “Shine A Light on Climate Action”, Earth hour has been the force behind numerous tangible environmental outcomes including helping to drive legislative changes, sparking global awareness through the Donate Your Feed platform on Facebook, and promoting individuals to go beyond the hour.

The Earth Hour campaign is held worldwide on the last Saturday of March at 8:30PM every year. On that day famous landmarks and skyscrapers in the world's major cities switch off their lights for one hour as a demonstration of concern for the Planet.

Everyone, including organizations and communities, is invited to participate at the biggest campaign for climate action. Show your support by switching off all non-essential lights during the hour and join the event with IDEA to celebrate Earth Hour 2017 outside Heydar Aliyev Center on 25 March at 8:30PM.
