At its meeting held on 13 April 2016, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), after having considered IDEA’s application and taking into account the organization’s national, regional and international initiatives, has unanimously granted IDEA Public Union a special consultative status with the Council.

The special consultative status enables IDEA to closely and actively engage with various UN bodies. In addition, as part of the ECOSOC network, IDEA will obtain a number of privileges. More specifically, as a member of the UN family, IDEA Public Union will benefit from the experience of the UN’s specialized agencies and the support of global funds for projects implemented at national, regional and international level. IDEA has also gained the right to participate in the negotiation and adoption of documents during meetings held at UN Headquarters, consult and prepare joint projects with UN bodies, put forward initiatives in the fields of its competence, keep the international community informed about ecological and health threats faced by our country and region, etc.
