On 21 October 2011, Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva and Amb. Fikret Akcura signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the United Nations Development Program on “Mobilizing Azerbaijani Youth for Action for Rio+20 Summit on Sustainable Development”. Leyla Aliyeva also spoke about the measures taken in the country to protect environment and settle environmental issues.
