Presentation “Green Pack” tutorial held

On 16 May 2016, the second edition of the “Green Pack” multimedia tutorial was presented at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

The tutorial was produced with a view to contribute to schoolchildren’s understanding of the environment and sustainable development from an early age and to nurture responsible attitudes towards nature among youth. The materials cover various aspects of the relationship between humans and nature, and elaborate on potential ways to achieve economic development and growth without harming the environment. Interactive games and videos included in the tutorial make it entertaining and easy to study.

It should be noted that initially the “Green Pack” had been published in Azerbaijan in 2006, but the development of information technologies over the past 10 years made it necessary to release its new edition. Hence, as a result of joint efforts by IDEA Public Union, Regional Environment Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) and Public Union for Sustainable Development, a new edition of the “Green Pack” was prepared within the last two years.

Representatives of state bodies and NGOs as well as teachers and experts from various regions of the country attended the event.

During the event, authors of the “Green Pack” tutorial as well as representatives of IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Education spoke about the project. They noted that the “Green Pack” is an interactive tutorial on sustainable development and environment, which has a modular structure and is intended for teachers and pupils at schools and other educational institutions.

The presented “Green Pack” will be made available for teachers and schoolchildren beginning from the new school year. The application of the tutorial will be a novelty in education as well as an innovative way to help children understand the environment.

Ecological education of youth is a priority sphere of activity for IDEA. IDEA’s ecological education program, carried out at its resource centers in Baku and Ganja covers youth of various ages and children as young as 5 years old.
