On 15 August 2015, in the framework of the project jointly carried out by IDEA Public Union and “Sevimli Bala” entitled “Ecological laboratory for children”, a training session focusing on the topic of waste and recycling for children aged 6-12 was held at the Resource Center located at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the session, children learned about waste and the process of its recycling as well as the importance of this process for our Planet and nature. The young ecologists were introduced to the ways of waste sorting, minimization and reuse.  

In addition, the young nature-lovers participated in fun knowledge contests, engaged in several experiments and learned to make new and useful things for the environment out of used materials by building birdhouses of milk cartons and plastic bottles. Afterwards, a bag made out of recycled plastic bottles was demonstrated to the participants of the ecological laboratory and garnered great interest of both parents and children.

Besides offering an interesting and entertaining day for children, the August laboratory session, which is the eight such event organized jointly by IDEA Public Union and “Sevimli Bala”, has greatly contributed to kids’ awareness from early ages of waste minimization and recycling process that are important components in protecting the environment.
