The Ecological Laboratory for Children – January session

Stepping into fourth year of Ecological Laboratory program with Sevimli Bala kids club, IDEA is excited to be continuing its work in teaching environmental sustainability to children.

The first session of 2018 focused on the theme of environmental protection and the Global Goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs) - a global plan of action for people, planet, and prosperity.

During the session, young environmentalists were informed about the Global Goals, specifically the environmental dimensions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They also learned about environmental challenges and actions needed to reduce the drivers of climate change and the impact. A special guest from United Nations Development Program (UNDP) spoke about the importance and how essential the power of children will be in achieving the SDGs by 2030 and shared some tips that can be taken to stay on the road to a prosperous planet.

To make learning enjoyable, kids engaged in craft activities and the experiment with dry ice.

Besides offering an interesting and fun day for kids, the January session of the Laboratory, has contributed to children’s understanding of environmental sustainability from an early age.

The Ecological Laboratory is a monthly training session jointly launched by IDEA and Sevimli Bala kids club, providing opportunities and resources to extend the children’s knowledge and awareness of the environment.
