This May, first time at the Ecological Laboratory for Children IDEA and Sevimli Bala kids club introduced a paleontology theme to young environmentalists.
At the session, children got familiar with extinct animals and the study of fossils, and learned about their evolution, interactions and environments. One of the fun hands-on activities was excavating and digging out the dinosaur fossils and finding their eggs that were hidden in the room.
Coinciding with the International Day for Biological Diversity, participants of the lab were informed about the country’s biodiversity and learned about the ways to preserve it.
At the end of the session, young environmentalists engaged in a fun knowledge contest and were rewarded with dinosaur pendant necklaces made from clay.
The Ecological Laboratory is a monthly training session jointly launched by IDEA and Sevimli Bala kids club, providing opportunities and resources to extend the children’s knowledge and awareness of the environment.
