In spring 2012 during  the renovation  works  at  the  Maiden  Tower, –  the  main  landmark of  Baku  and  a  12th  century cultural  monument, - workers  came  across numerous  bird  nests.  Flocks of  swifts,  highly  aerial  birds,  had  built approximately  200  nesting  sites  on  the  monument.
