“Love tree” project was launched jointly by IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action), YARAT Contemporary Art Space and “Baku” magazine. Project was launched at the Seaside National Park in Baku.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Editor in Chief of “Baku” magazine and founder of the IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Union, Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva. has personally attended a ceremony to launch “Love Tree”.

It is believed that love lock that sweethearts lock to bridge, fence, gate, or similar public fixture to symbolize their love brings them happiness. Typically the sweethearts` names or initials inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolize unbreakable love.

Young people leave souvenirs of their love in public gardens, parks and elsewhere along with emotional writings.

The “Love tree”, a 2.5 meter high reused metal construction, will become an integral part of the seaside boulevard landscape and a permanent attraction for young couples who see padlocks as a token of their love.
