On 10 December 2020, 7,000 acacia trees were planted by hundreds of volunteers in Gabala in a mass tree-planting organized by IDEA Public Union, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and Gabala district Executive Power.
The event was held as part of IDEA’s project on supporting an eco-entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan. The goal of the project is to boost the dwindling populations of bees and support harvesting of honey as a type of entrepreneurship in the country. Besides increasing forest areas with nectar and pollen providing trees across the country, it is also planned to organize beekeeping training seminars for young families.
As it is known, beekeeping is considered as the most environmentally safe and beneficial type of agricultural farming, given the important role that bees and other pollinators play in the conservation of biodiversity. Taking an active part in pollinating seed and fruit crops honey bees increase and maintain their productivity and sustainability. Bees and some other pollinating insects contribute to the reproduction of not only some certain plants, but other species also rely on them.
