Will Hawkes

"IDEA is an organization, which has given me huge opportunities with nature photography, of which i am very grateful"

Will Hawkes is 17. He was born in London, now he lives in North Wales.

For his 14th birthday Will was given a photographic course with a local photographer. He automatically fell in love with photography and ever since he has aimed to go out every weekend to take photos!

His mother used to work in London Zoo so conservation and loving animals has been drilled into him from an early age and has turned me into a keen conservationist!

Will's favorite things to photograph have always been nature based, ranging from tiny ants to huge sweeping mountains capes.

Travelling to Azerbaijan was a fantastic experience for him, as he got to visit one of the most amazing emerging nations on earth!

After the incredible experience in “Children’s Eyes on Earth” Youth Photography Contest & Festival, organized by IDEA, he was featured in huge photography magazines such as digital photographer and black and white photography magazine.

He wrote book reviews, found gear to review as well as going on local photographic assignments.

“The Contest has given me the confidence to enter more competitions and Finn two weeks time I'm travelling to London to correct another photographic prize.

IDEA has been fantastically supportive with everything including offering me a internship to photograph specific conservation for a good chunk of the year. This internship has improved my photography no end as it has me a deadline to work towards and forced me to create quality photos each week! The whole experience has made me love nature more and has made me take even more notice of the natural world, it has made me want to pursue a career into conservation and do my bit for the prevention of global warming!” – Will stated.
