What is the Big IDEA?
Our mission is to create real and virtual communities of youth at the regional and international levels, to develop that community through open dialogues that provide information and make practical calls on environmental protection, and to ensure that each member of this community grows as a leader in order to carry out environmental education work on the ground.

On April 22, 2016, a training dedicated to “Earth Day” was held by the IDEA Public Union.<br />Approximately 40 young people studying or working in the fields of environment, ecology, and sustainable development participated in the training held at IDEA’s Resource Center, located in the Zirə Cultural Center.

On June 16, a model public beach in the Shikh area, established on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, was opened for citizens. The opening of the vast free beach, covering approximately 5 hectares, coincided with the start of the beach season in Baku.

Azerbaijan National Parks
Currently in Azerbaijan, 12 national parks, 9 state nature reserves, and 24 state nature sanctuaries together cover 11.59% of the country’s territory. A further 14.02% of the land area belongs to the Forest Fund. Overall, specially protected natural areas account for 25.61% of the country’s territory.
