At the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Founder and Head of the IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Union, the six-month report of the “Say No to Tree Cutting!” program implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the IDEA Public Union has been published.

Citizens who encounter cases of illegal tree cutting submit their complaints to the IDEA Public Union via the “Emergency Assistance to Nature” hotline created within the framework of the “Say No to Tree Cutting!” program (1113 from all mobile operators and city phone numbers). Based on the incoming complaints, IDEA’s special mobile group is dispatched to the site, investigates the incident on the spot, collects additional evidence, photo and video materials regarding the violation of the law, and, together with the relevant state bodies, takes appropriate measures.

During the six months of the current year, a total of 78 appeals related to cases of illegal tree cutting were received by the IDEA Public Union from the cities of Baku and Sumgait. Each appeal was reviewed separately by the IDEA Public Union and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and documented in accordance with established procedures.

Based on the identified facts, relevant authorities drew up acts and protocols against individuals and legal entities who committed legal violations, administrative fines were imposed, and official appeals were sent to the relevant bodies of the city and district Executive Authorities and to law enforcement agencies for the implementation of necessary measures.

The IDEA Public Union expresses its deep gratitude to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the relevant Executive Authorities, and citizens who do not remain indifferent to environmental problems for their support of the “Say No to Tree Cutting!” program.

The IDEA Public Union once again calls on citizens to report any cases of illegal tree cutting they encounter by calling the 1113 hotline from all mobile operators and city phone numbers and informing the Public Union.
