An eco-scout camp called "Guardians of Nature" was held in In Aggol National Park

On October 6-7, the next eco-scout camp titled "Guardians of Nature" was organized at Aghgol National Park by the IDEA Public Union and the Azerbaijan Scouts Association.
The purpose of the "Guardians of Nature" camps is to inform young people about Azerbaijan's rich nature, endemic flora and fauna, to promote nature conservation, to teach them to use the resources provided by nature efficiently and properly, as well as to encourage young people to behave correctly in the wild and enjoy recreation without harming the environment.
A total of 60 young people aged 18-25, with ecological education or experience in this field, and known for their ecological activity, joined the camp.
An eco-tour was organized in the territory of Aghgol National Park with the participation of the voluntarily joined youth. The young people received extensive information about the main purpose of creating Aghgol National Park, landscape types specific to the area, the lake, and the birds inhabiting its surroundings, whose names are included in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On October 6, on the occasion of World Birdwatching Day, sedentary and migratory birds were observed together with eco-scouts in the territory of the National Park, where more than 500,000 birds winter. During the observation, the youth were explained the methodology for counting birds, conducting counts, and preparing reports to correctly track the dynamics of bird populations.
During the two-day camp, practical trainings, competitions, and contests on various ecological topics were held for the youth, musical entertainment was organized, and the participants also took part in hiking, discussions on interesting ecological topics, environmental games, including obstacle course games, and more.
At the end of the camp, participants collected and sorted waste during a cleaning campaign in the territory of the national park.
It should be noted that the IDEA Public Union launched the “Eco-Scout” project in March of last year. The purpose of the project is to involve young people in nature conservation, encourage them to study and protect wildlife in depth, and engage in useful ecological activities in society. The first camp within the framework of the “Eco-Scout” project was held in May of this year at Shirvan National Park.
Considering ecological awareness, reducing and gradually eliminating damage to nature caused by human activities, and contributing to the formation of ethical behavior towards nature, it is planned to hold the "Guardians of Nature" eco-scout camps in other national parks of our country as well.
