IDEA Public Union, in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Azerbaijan Office and the Ministry of Education, is implementing the "World's Largest Lesson" project in a number of our country's secondary schools, dedicated to promoting the Sustainable Development Goals.

As is known, on September 25, 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations was adopted by world leaders. In this regard, with the support of UNICEF and other organizations, the "World's Largest Lesson" project was launched. The aim of the project is to conduct lessons on the Global Goals in schools worldwide every year starting from the end of September. The purpose of the lesson to be held in Azerbaijan is to increase students’ knowledge on various topics, including climate change. In this regard, the lesson focuses on the impact of climate change and how children can develop ways to protect the environment they live in. The lessons are conducted based on teaching materials prepared within the framework of the project.

For the lessons to be held in our country's schools, these materials were prepared and published in Azerbaijani by IDEA and UNICEF. With the participation of the Institute for Professional Development of Education Workers under the Ministry of Education, training on the teaching of the "World's Largest Lesson" will be organized for teachers from 20 secondary schools in Baku and Khachmaz over one week starting from September 24. Afterwards, the trained teachers are expected to conduct the lesson with their own students. At the end, the schools that participated in the project will be marked on the world map on the “World’s Largest Lesson” website. The initiative will conclude with a final ceremony attended by high-level representatives of the Ministry of Education, UNICEF, and IDEA.

Since its inception in 2015, the "World's Largest Lesson" initiative has informed millions of children and youth from over 130 countries about the Sustainable Development Goals, including the set environmental, social, and economic challenges and targets, and taught them how they can participate in achieving these goals.

Detailed information about the "World's Largest Lesson" project can be obtained from IDEA Public Union (012 497 63 16) or the UNICEF Azerbaijan Office (412 492 3013).
