A large-scale cleaning campaign has been organized in Azerbaijan.

On June 8, a large-scale cleanup campaign was held in our country through the joint organization of the IDEA Public Union, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “Tamiz Shahar” OJSC, the Baku Transport Agency, and the United Nations Office in Azerbaijan.
Dedicated to World Environment Day and organized in connection with the start of the beach season, the next traditional coastal cleanup campaign was held in the Novkhani beach area.
Nearly 1,000 young volunteers, including students of higher and secondary educational institutions, active members of youth organizations, and representatives of the public, joined the campaign.
The main purpose of the event is to promote cleanliness along the seashores, prevent littering of coastal areas with household waste, and engage all young people in the fight for the protection of the marine environment.
During the campaign, participants provided with the necessary sanitary supplies jointly sorted the waste they collected from the beach and identified the types of litter most commonly found there. To organize the waste collection process more efficiently, special equipment was also brought to the area. Afterwards, all the waste was delivered to the Balakhani Solid Household Waste Sorting Plant.
After the waste collection, the young participants enjoyed music in the cleaned area, tried their hand at sports such as football, volleyball, badminton, etc., and also took part in competitions and interactive games, winning prizes.
The IDEA Public Union, together with local and international partners, regularly organizes cleanup campaigns along the Caspian shores, in the Kura River and other rivers, with the aim of preserving, increasing, and protecting the aquatic bioresources of Azerbaijan and the region.
The cleanup campaign, held under the slogan “Let the shores stay clean,” is the 13th campaign carried out with mass participation of young people along the Caspian Sea coast. Within these campaigns, nearly 60 tons of waste have been collected from the shores, sorted, and sent for recycling.
The campaign partners express their gratitude to all nature-loving young people who joined the event and call on everyone not to pollute our Planet and to take care of the environment!
