On April 14–15, 2015, a scientific-practical seminar on "Flora Species in Azerbaijan at Risk of Extinction and Newly Described Species in Recent Times" was organized at the IDEA Public Union Resource Center.

The seminar, which included both theoretical and practical sessions, was attended by more than 30 young people studying or working in ecology, biology, and other related fields.

In the theoretical part of the seminar, a representative of the Institute of Botany of ANAS spoke as an expert. The expert delivered a lecture on rare plants found in Azerbaijan, species facing the risk of extinction, endemics, toponymic, decorative, medicinal, and economically significant plants.

During the practical part, participants visited the Central Botanical Garden, the Herbarium Fund, the museum, and the laboratory under the Institute of Botany.

The young participants became closely acquainted with the equipment used in the laboratory and its working principles, took part in ongoing experiments, and had the opportunity to test in practice the theoretical knowledge gained during the lectures. Additionally, young specialists were taught methods for cultivating flora species in laboratory conditions and for increasing the populations of endangered plants.

The two-day seminar not only generated great interest among the youth but also provided them with an opportunity to acquire valuable theoretical and practical knowledge.

IDEA Public Union regularly organizes seminars, round tables, and training courses to help young people studying or working in the field of environmental protection gain deeper knowledge and benefit from the experience of specialists.
