Collection points for unused clothing items have been opened in Baku.

As is known, on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Association, various ecological and social projects have been launched in our country. The IDEA Public Association, which places special emphasis on reducing, reusing, and recycling waste, carries out large-scale awareness and promotion activities in this direction. In this regard, it should be noted that since 2017, through special recycling bins placed by IDEA in hundreds of offices and enterprises, thousands of tons of paper and plastic waste have been collected and sent for recycling. In addition, IDEA plans to distribute special boxes for collecting used batteries to enterprises on a mass scale in the near future.
Like other products, the disposal and decomposition of clothing items also negatively impact the environment. This is related both to the toxic substances and gases released into nature during the decomposition of discarded items and to the harm caused by the production of new products.
Considering the positive environmental impact of reuse and the demand for clothing items, the IDEA Public Association has installed donation boxes in Baku for the collection of unused clothes and shoes. People can place clothing they no longer use and wish to share into the boxes located at certain points in our city. Initially, these charity-focused reuse boxes have been installed in “Bravo” hypermarkets, in the “Bravo” superstore on Babek Avenue, as well as at the “SOCAR Petroleum” filling station on the same avenue. Similar clothing collection boxes are planned to be installed in other suitable locations across Baku in the near future.
The IDEA Public Association calls on our city’s residents to extend a helping hand to those in need by placing their unused, serviceable, and clean clothing items into IDEA donation boxes instead of discarding them, while also reducing environmental harm through reuse. At the same time, it is requested that donated clothing items be washed and cleaned before being placed in the boxes, and that no foreign objects or trash be put into the boxes.
