In Baku, "World Car-Free Day" was celebrated.

On September 22, in connection with "World Carfree Day," awareness-raising mass events were held in Baku with the organization of the Heydar Aliyev Center, IDEA Public Union, and the Azerbaijan Cycling Sport Federation, and with the support of the Baku Transport Agency.
Within the framework of the event, a bike ride was first held under the slogan “To Work by Bicycle!” The main purpose of the ride, attended by more than 200 cyclists, skateboarders, and roller skaters, was to promote the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly modes of transport, public transportation, and walking, thereby contributing to the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere.
The bike ride started from the "Azneft" roundabout and ended at the Heydar Aliyev Center. Afterwards, the event continued in the Center’s park with educational and entertaining programs. These included a show by extreme cyclists and skateboarders, bicycle training for children, games and knowledge competitions to raise awareness about safe bicycle use, an exhibition of "ISMA BIKES" bicycles produced in Azerbaijan, a display of unusual handmade bicycles by bike designer Rafael Hamidoglu, music, and other surprises.
The tradition of widely celebrating "World Carfree Day," dedicated to environmental protection, first appeared in 1997 in the United Kingdom. Currently, more than 1,500 cities in approximately 35 countries participate in this action. It is known that car emissions contain over 200 toxic components, including biologically active substances, which lead to atmospheric pollution and negative effects on the human body. With this symbolic action, participants draw public attention to the dangers of climate change and encourage the use of environmentally friendly modes of transport and public transportation.
