The II Summer Camp “Let’s Protect the Leopards!”, launched by IDEA Public Union and the Azerbaijan Representation of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) within the framework of the “Conservation of Caucasian Leopards” project, has successfully concluded. Held from July 23 to 25 in Masalli district with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Center and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the camp hosted over 30 students from the Jalilabad, Masalli, and Yardimli districts of the country.

At the II Summer Camp “Let’s Protect the Leopards!”, students participated in training sessions covering topics such as the habitats of this rare species, their conservation, and issues related to humans and the environment. They also took part in excursions to the natural habitats of leopards and conducted various ecological studies. At the end of the camp, the young participants, who acquired extensive knowledge, were presented with souvenir gifts.

It should be recalled that the first such summer camp was held from July 9 to 11, 2014, in Masalli district, with the participation of over 30 students from the Lankaran, Astara, and Lerik districts.

The aim of these camps is to educate young people about ecological issues from school age, to cultivate and develop a love for nature, an active civic stance, and to inform students living near the habitats of the Caucasian leopards about this rare species and promote its conservation.

It should be noted that both summer camps were carried out as a continuation of the Caucasus Biodiversity Summit, held on May 7, 2014, on the initiative of IDEA Public Union, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center.
