In connection with the “International Coastal Cleanup Day,” a cleanup campaign was organized.

On September 17, in connection with the “International Coastal Cleanup Day,” IDEA Public Union and “Clean City” JSC organized the next cleanup campaign in the Buzovna beach area.
The main goal of the event, which was attended by more than 100 volunteers, was to prevent coastal areas from being littered with household waste and to raise public awareness about maintaining cleanliness on the seashores. Littering of the Caspian shores by visitors leads to the destruction of the marine environment, particularly its rich wildlife.
During the cleanup campaign, participants equipped with necessary sanitary supplies sorted the collected waste and delivered it to the Baku Baku Solid Household Waste Sorting Plant using a special vehicle.
This event, held in connection with Cleanup Week, attracted widespread public interest, and individuals representing various age groups joined IDEA’s initiative. The event was also notable for the first-time participation of members of the diplomatic corps – the U.S. Ambassador to our country, Mr. Robert Sekuta, and embassy staff.
IDEA Public Union conducts mass campaigns every year before and after the beach season under the slogan “Keep the Shores Clean,” with the participation of hundreds of young people. In addition, IDEA Public Union carries out similar cleanup campaigns around other water bodies, rivers, lakes, and waterfalls.
The campaign was organized within the framework of the UN “Global Partnership on Marine Litter” program, of which IDEA is a member.
Regardless of the season, IDEA Public Union calls on everyone to take care of the environment, as exemplified by coastal areas, and to contribute to the fight against ecological problems! Remember, plastic containers, metal products, glass fragments, rubber, and other waste thrown on the shores do not decompose and thus destroy the wildlife living in the marine environment!
IDEA Public Union invites institutions, organizations, and diplomatic missions represented in our country to join ongoing ecological initiatives.
