Another cleanup campaign was organized in connection with “International Cleanliness Week”.
On October 3, 2015, the IDEA Public Association, together with “Clean City” OJSC, organized another cleanup campaign with the participation of volunteers in the Buzovna beach area in connection with “International Cleanliness Week”. It should be noted that, based on a study conducted by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Buzovna coastline was identified as the most polluted beach in Baku. It was precisely for this reason that the cleanup campaign was carried out in this area.
Held under the slogan “Together for nature during Cleanliness Week!”, the main goal of the campaign was to prevent pollution and littering of coastal areas, as well as to raise public awareness about maintaining cleanliness along the seashores. Thus, the littering of the Caspian Sea coastline by visitors leads to the destruction of the marine environment, especially its rich wildlife.
As in the rest of the world, taking into account the high level of pollution observed on the shores after the sea season in our country, the IDEA Public Association organizes such social campaigns every year on Baku beaches with the participation of hundreds of young people.
This event held in connection with Cleanliness Week attracted broad public interest, and individuals representing various age groups of society joined IDEA’s initiative. Those who demonstrated special activity in collecting waste in the beach area were awarded commemorative gifts by the IDEA Public Association.
During the campaign, participants equipped with the necessary sanitary supplies sorted the collected waste according to its composition and identified the types of litter most commonly found on the beaches. Subsequently, all waste was delivered by special vehicles to the Balakhani Solid Household Waste Sorting Plant.
Regardless of the season, the IDEA Public Association calls on everyone to take care of the environment, using coastal areas as an example, and to contribute to the fight against environmental problems!
