"Our Courtyard” - Binagadi District, A. Kunanbayev and S. Akhundov Streets

On August 6, the next courtyard renovated within the framework of the "Our Courtyard" project by the IDEA Public Union, aimed at improving courtyards in need of repair, was opened for residents’ use.
Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, attended the opening of the courtyard, as well as the tree-planting campaign held during the event.
The courtyard, with a total area of 1.4 ha, encompasses seven five-story buildings located at Baku, Binagadi district, Abay Kunanbayev Street 3, 3A, 5/13, 5B, 5V, 5A/15, and Suleyman Sani Akhundov Street 15/1, housing 2,650 residents.
The main goal of the "Our Courtyard" project is to make Baku’s courtyards ecologically clean and well-maintained, restore greenery that forms the backbone of the city’s ecology, promote a healthy lifestyle, and create safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.
In the newly improved courtyard, accessibility for people with disabilities and limited mobility has been ensured. Favorable conditions for the development of children of all age groups have been created, along with facilities for youth to spend their free time effectively and to develop a habit of systematic sports. For this purpose, an artificial-surface mini football and basketball court, a chess area, various sports equipment, and three playgrounds for children have been installed.
Additionally, five gazebos have been built, numerous benches and trash bins installed, and the charity house in the courtyard has been thoroughly renovated and equipped with all necessary facilities.
Taking into account the wishes and interests of residents, new lighting poles have been installed in the courtyard, the facades, roofs, and entrances of the buildings have been fully renovated, and new metal doors and plastic windows have been installed in the blocks. Alongside the restoration of existing greenery, an additional 100 trees and flowering shrubs have been planted, and a 3,000 sq.m green zone has been created. Furthermore, surveillance cameras have been installed to ensure residents’ safety.
This is the twenty-eighth courtyard renovated for residents in the Binagadi district within the framework of the project.
The project is planned to be implemented in all districts of Baku. In this regard, information and recommendations regarding courtyards in the capital in need of improvement are requested to be submitted to the IDEA Public Union.
