“Our yard” - Sabunchu District, Bakixanov, Shamil Kamilov st.

On August 4, the next renovated courtyard implemented within the framework of the “Bizim həyət” project, carried out on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, was opened for residents.
The renovated courtyard covers multi-storey buildings at 5, 7, 9 and 11 Şamil Kamilov Street, Bakixanov settlement, Sabunchu district, Baku city, where 850 residents live.
The main goal of the “Bizim həyət” project is to make courtyards across the country environmentally clean and well-maintained, to restore greenery that forms the backbone of urban ecology, to promote a healthy lifestyle, and to create safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.
In the newly improved courtyard, the movement of persons with disabilities and limited mobility has been taken into account, and in order to provide favorable conditions for the development of children of all age groups, to ensure that young people spend their leisure time efficiently and form the habit of regular sports, a mini football field with artificial turf, a chess area, various sports facilities, and children’s playgrounds have been built. At the same time, 4 sitting pavilions, numerous benches, waste bins, birdhouses and cat houses have been installed.
Taking into account the wishes and interests of the residents, new lighting poles and surveillance cameras have been installed in the courtyard, the façades and entrances of the buildings have been fully repaired, the asphalt and roof coverings have been renewed, and the electrical system, as well as gas, water and heating lines, have been reconstructed.
Along with the restoration of the existing greenery in the courtyard area, 280 trees of various species and thousands of shrubs have been planted, and a green zone covering 3000 square meters has been created. In addition, by planting common ivy and other climbing plants around the courtyard, “green barriers” have been established.
