“Our Yard” - Surakhani (Elman Gasimov 15)

The "Our Yard" project, initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, aimed at the renovation and improvement of neglected yards, continues successfully.
On December 27, the next yard renovated within the framework of the "Our Yard" project was opened for residents' use. The renewed yard covers buildings at E. Gasimov Street 15, 15A, 15B, and 15V in the Surakhani district, home to nearly 1,950 residents.
The main goal of the "Our Yard" project is to model ecologically clean and well-maintained yards, restore greenery, promote a healthy lifestyle, and create safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.
In the yard renovated within the "Our Yard" project, covering an area of 13,000 m², accessibility for people with disabilities and limited mobility has been ensured, and 200 m² of the area has been allocated for children's play elements to provide favorable conditions for child development across all age groups. Additionally, 300 m² has been allocated for mini football and basketball courts, 155 m² for sports and fitness areas, and a corner for elderly residents along with four conversation pavilions has been created. The primary goal of establishing such areas is to encourage young people to lead a healthy lifestyle, strengthen their health, spend their leisure time productively, and develop a habit of systematic physical activity.
Taking residents' wishes and interests into account, the facades and entrance areas of the buildings have also been fully renovated and opened for use. In addition to restoring the existing greenery in the yard, 100 additional trees and shrubs have been planted, and a 3,000 m² lawn has been laid. Surveillance cameras have also been installed to ensure residents' safety.
This is the eleventh yard in the Surakhani district renovated and opened for residents within the framework of the project.
The project is planned to be implemented in all districts of Baku. In this regard, information and recommendations regarding yards in the capital that require improvement are requested to be submitted to the IDEA Public Union.
