“Our Yard” - Surakhani District, Hovsan Settlement

On October 10, the next courtyard renovated within the framework of the "Our Yard" project by the IDEA Public Union, aimed at improving courtyards in need of repair, was opened for residents' use.
Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, participated in the courtyard opening, including the mass tree planting held during the event.
The renovated courtyard covers multi-story residential buildings at 7, 8, 9, 10, 10A, 10V, 10B Ilgar Ahlimanov Street in the Hovsan settlement of the Surakhani district, home to 4,200 residents.
The main goal of the "Our Yard" project is to make Baku courtyards environmentally clean and well-maintained, restore greenery that forms the backbone of the city’s ecology, promote a healthy lifestyle, and create safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.
In the newly improved courtyard, accessibility for people with disabilities and limited mobility has been ensured. Facilities have been created to support the development of children of all ages, to provide opportunities for youth to spend their leisure time effectively, and to foster a habit of regular sports. These include a mini football field with artificial turf, a chess area, various sports equipment, playgrounds, and a bicycle path.
Additionally, 12 gazebos and a senior citizens’ house have been built, numerous benches and trash bins installed, and the charity house in the courtyard has been thoroughly renovated and equipped with all necessary facilities.
Taking into account the wishes and interests of residents, new lighting poles have been installed, building facades, roofs, and entrance areas have been fully repaired, and new metal doors and plastic windows have been installed in the blocks. In addition to restoring existing greenery, 50 new trees and shrubs have been planted, and a green zone of 2,000 sq.m has been created. Surveillance cameras have also been installed to ensure residents’ safety.
This courtyard in the Surakhani district is the thirty-third renovated yard made available to residents within the framework of the project.
The project is planned to be implemented in all districts of Baku. Accordingly, information and recommendations regarding courtyards in the capital that require improvement are requested to be submitted to the IDEA Public Union.
