"Our Yard" - Khatai District, Zig Road
The “Our Yard” project, aimed at the renovation and beautification of neglected courtyards and implemented on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, continues successfully.
On March 4, the next courtyard renovated within the framework of the “Our Yard” project was opened for residents. The renewed courtyard covers buildings housing 1,200 residents at 9 Zigh Road in the Khatai district.
The main goal of the “Our Yard” project is to make Baku courtyards environmentally clean and well-maintained, restore greenery that forms the backbone of the city’s ecology, promote a healthy lifestyle, and create safe and comfortable living conditions for residents.
In the next courtyard renovated within the project, accessibility for people with disabilities and limited mobility has been considered, favorable conditions for children’s development across all age groups have been created, and to ensure that young people spend their free time effectively, mini-football, volleyball, and basketball courts, six sports facilities, a children’s playground with a specially coated floor, as well as 19 seating areas have been installed. The main purpose of establishing such playgrounds is to promote a healthy lifestyle among youth, strengthen their health, help them spend their free time effectively, and cultivate interest in regular sports activities. Additionally, a fountain has been built and the “Martyrs’ Complex” has been restored.
New lighting poles have been installed based on residents’ requests, and the facades and entrances of the buildings have been fully renovated and made available for use. In the 13,000-square-meter courtyard area, existing greenery has been restored, an additional 100 trees have been planted, and a 5,000-square-meter green zone has been established.
This courtyard in the Khatai district is the seventeenth courtyard renovated within the framework of the project and made available to residents.
The project is planned to be implemented in all districts of Baku. In this regard, information and recommendations about courtyards in the capital that require renovation are requested to be submitted to the IDEA Public Union.
