On September 16, the next traditional coastal clean-up campaign was held with the joint organization of the IDEA Public Union, the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “Temiz Sheher” OJSC, and the “Cavan” Youth Movement Public Union.

The clean-up campaign, organized on the occasion of International Coastal Cleanup Day and also in connection with the end of the beach season, took place in the Buzovna beach area.

More than 300 volunteer young people participated in the campaign, including nature-loving youth from the Sabunchu and Khazar Youth Houses, students of higher and secondary educational institutions, active members of youth organizations, and representatives of the public.

The main goal of the event is to promote compliance with cleanliness on sea coasts, prevent coastal areas from being polluted with household waste, and engage all young people in the struggle for the protection of the marine environment.

During the campaign, participants provided with necessary sanitary supplies jointly sorted the waste they collected from the beach and identified the types of litter most commonly found on beaches. Special equipment was also deployed in the area to organize the waste collection process more effectively. Afterwards, all collected waste was delivered to the Balakhani Solid Household Waste Sorting Plant.

Following the waste collection, young people enjoyed themselves in the cleaned area with music, tried their skills in sports such as football, volleyball, badminton, and others, and also won prizes by participating in competitions and interactive games.

Together with local and international partners, the IDEA Public Union regularly organizes clean-up campaigns along the Caspian Sea coast, the Kura River, and other rivers in Azerbaijan and the region with the aim of preserving, increasing, and protecting water bioresources.

The clean-up campaign held under the slogan “Let the coasts remain clean” is the 10th campaign of this kind carried out on the Caspian Sea coast with the mass participation of young people. Within the framework of these campaigns, nearly 50 tons of waste have been collected from the coasts, sorted, and sent for recycling.

The campaign partners express their gratitude to all nature-loving young people who joined the event and call on everyone not to pollute our Planet and to take care of the environment!
