IDEA Public Union, the Azerbaijan office of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized the ecological summer camp “Let’s Protect the Gazelles!” within the framework of the program “Reintroduction of Gazelles to Their Historically Inhabited Areas in the Caucasus.” The camp, attended by more than 30 students from the Gakh and Sheki districts, was held on June 10–12 in the village of Ilisu, Gakh district.

The main goal of the ecological summer camp “Let’s Protect the Gazelles!” was to educate the younger generation living in areas where gazelles have been reintroduced about this species. During the camp, participants received extensive information about the lifestyle of gazelles, their habitats, and their role in nature. Children also took part in various small ecological studies, quizzes, and competitions. On the second day of the camp, they carried out a cleanup action around the Ilisu waterfall. At the same time, all participants were given gifts and awarded certificates.

The program “Reintroduction of Gazelles to Their Historically Inhabited Areas in the Caucasus” has been successfully implemented since 2010 within the framework of joint cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, IDEA Public Union, and the WWF Azerbaijan office. During these years, more than 150 gazelles have been reintroduced from Shirvan National Park to their historically inhabited areas, and their ongoing monitoring and protection are being carried out.

It should be noted that IDEA Public Union, the Azerbaijan office of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan regularly organize camps on environmental and biodiversity topics every year.
