The winners of the “Eco Drawing Diary 2013” project were awarded.

On December 10, 2013, the award ceremony for the international competition “Eco Drawing Diary 2013” took place at the Heydar Aliyev Center. On the initiative of IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Protection) Public Union, led by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, 20 finalists of the project, implemented for the first time in Azerbaijan, were awarded diplomas and various gifts.
The ceremony was attended by many officials, representatives of state and government bodies, ambassadors of foreign countries to the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of the schools where the students who reached the final stage study.
The title of “National Winner” of the international competition, held under the auspices of UNESCO and organized by the Heydar Aliyev Center, IDEA Public Union, and Panasonic Marketing CIS (PMCIS), was awarded to Fuad Soltanov, a student of class 6a1 at Baku European Lyceum. Fuad Soltanov was sent to Paris, the capital of France, to participate in the international round of the competition. The national winner represented Azerbaijan at the international event held with the support of Panasonic from December 3 to 6.
The finalists of the national round of the competition were selected from among 3,032 students participating in the project. The students, within a specified period, created drawings in specially prepared “Diaries” for the competition, reflecting current global environmental problems and the importance of environmental protection, and added texts briefly describing their ideas.
It should be noted that the “Eco Drawing Diary 2013” international competition, held annually since 2008 and covering more than 50 countries, aims to foster and develop a love of nature in the younger generation, strengthen environmental awareness among them, and mobilize students to engage in environmental protection. The project also serves to promote an active civic stance in protecting the environment and human health.
