The award ceremony for the national stage of the "Eco Drawing Competition 2014" was held.

On October 10, the award ceremony for the national stage of the “Eco Drawing Diary 2014” international competition, organized on the initiative of the IDEA Public Union, under the auspices of UNESCO, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Center and Panasonic, took place.
The event was attended by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, a number of state and government representatives, ambassadors of foreign countries to the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as representatives of the schools where the students who reached the final stage of the competition study.
It should be noted that, held for the second time in Azerbaijan, the competition distributed 5,000 “Eco Diaries” to schools in Baku and Ganja, of which 3,050 were completed and submitted to the organizers.
Based on the evaluation of the jury consisting of representatives from IDEA, the Heydar Aliyev Center, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, UNESCO, Panasonic, the media, and NGOs, 20 finalists were selected. The national winner of the competition was Aylin Yahyazade, a student of Classical Gymnasium No. 160.
Other finalists included students from Baku European Lyceum, Physics, Mathematics, and Informatics Lyceum, Baku Slavic University School Lyceum Complex, “Ankara” School Lyceum, Secondary Schools No. 269, 283, 304 from Baku, and students from the Foreign Languages Gymnasium and Secondary Schools No. 1, 6, 22, 25, 28, 34 from Ganja.
At the award ceremony, the national winner and the 19 finalists were presented with certificates and valuable gifts.
It should be noted that in the “Eco Drawing Diary 2014” competition, the finalists expressed various current environmental issues through their drawings accompanied by short explanatory texts and proposed their solutions to these problems.
During the event, a video showing information about the finalists and their drawings was displayed.
It should be noted that the “Eco Drawing Diary” international competition, covering more than 50 countries, has been held since 2008. The purpose of the competition is to develop ecological thinking in children from an early age, to form an active civic stance on environmental issues, and to mobilize them to protect the environment and solve related problems.
