A seminar on “Legal Regulation of Environmental Protection” was organized.

Within the framework of IDEA Public Union’s “Youth Education Program,” a seminar on “Legal Regulation of Environmental Protection” was held on March 15.
The seminar, conducted at IDEA’s Resource Center located at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was attended by nearly 40 young people studying or working in the fields of environment, ecology, and sustainable development.
During the seminar, detailed information was provided on various areas of environmental protection, including ecological conservation, biodiversity preservation, efficient use of natural resources, the integrity of natural landscapes, maintaining the cleanliness of internal waters, ecological safety, industrial pollution, waste management, and other related topics, as well as the legislation currently in force in our country. Existing regulatory mechanisms and gaps in the national legal system were also discussed.
Additionally, the seminar addressed the sanctions prescribed by legislation for environmental damage. It was noted that strict measures are provided in the law for hunting endangered animal species, environmentally harmful activities in industry and construction, and actions posing a threat to ecology, and that these fines and penalties are regularly increased.
The interactive format of the event and the participants’ particular sensitivity to the topic contributed to making the seminar engaging.
The information obtained during the seminar proved useful for participants, especially considering the public’s limited access to details about penalties and fines for environmental damage, and it contributed to their understanding of environmental protection laws.
IDEA regularly organizes trainings, seminars, environmentally themed films, and similar activities each month at the Resource Center of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to enhance the ecological knowledge of young people studying in the fields of environment and sustainable development, to direct their attention to solving ecological problems, and to help them observe expert approaches to important ecological topics.
