An eco-scout camp called "Guarding Nature" was held at Goygol National Park.

On February 6-8, the next eco-scout camp titled "Guardians of Nature" was organized in Goygol National Park by the IDEA Public Union and the Azerbaijan Scouts Association, with the support of the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The purpose of the "Guardians of Nature" camps is to inform young people about Azerbaijan's rich nature, endemic flora and fauna, to promote nature conservation, teach them to use the resources provided by nature efficiently and correctly, and to encourage proper behavior in the wild and recreation without harming the environment.
Nearly 150 young people aged 18-25, who have ecological education or experience in this field and are distinguished by their ecological activity, joined the camp.
An eco-tour was organized in the territory of Goygol National Park with the participation of volunteers. The youth were provided with detailed information about the main purpose of establishing Goygol National Park, its unique and world-famous forest landscape, the lake and the fauna species inhabiting the area, some of which are included in the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the lake's ecosystem.
During the two-day camp, training sessions on Azerbaijan's biodiversity and national parks were held for the youth, including seminars and practical exercises on setting up tents in nature, providing first aid, necessary equipment for fieldwork, and safe clothing. Afterwards, participants took part in various ecological competitions and contests, as well as discussions on global environmental issues, environmental games, musical entertainment, and more.
During the camp, a hiking trip was organized to Goygol and Maralgol, known for their rich nature and scenic landscapes.
At the end of the camp, participants were presented with souvenir gifts and certificates.
It should be noted that the IDEA Public Union’s “Eco-Scout” project started in March 2017. The aim of the project is to engage young people in nature conservation, to study and protect wildlife in depth, and to motivate them to engage in useful ecological activities in society. Within the framework of the “Eco-Scout” project, the first camp was held last May in Shirvan National Park, followed by Ag-Gol National Park.
Considering its contribution to ecological education, reducing and gradually eliminating the harm caused to nature by human activity, and fostering ethical behavior towards nature, it is planned to hold the "Guardians of Nature" eco-scout camps in other national parks of the country as well.
