IDEA has obtained observer status in the UN Environment Programme.

The IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Protection) Public Union has been accredited by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and has received observer status within this organization.
It should be noted that UNEP, established in 1972 based on a resolution of the UN General Assembly, aims to protect the environment and nature and to coordinate measures in this direction. UNEP operates six major regional offices in various countries, is a co-founder of the Global Environment Facility, and under its auspices, International Environment Day is celebrated worldwide every year.
Having observer status in this organization grants IDEA the authority to participate in UNEP’s annual regional consultations, plenary sessions of the Committee of the Whole during UNEP sessions, and ministerial-level consultations; to submit written reports in the form of informative documents to governments through the UNEP secretariat; to deliver oral statements during UNEP discussions; and other related rights.
The IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Protection) Public Union began its activities on July 12, 2011, on the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The organization’s main objectives are public awareness on environmental issues and activities, collaboration with youth, education in the field of environmental problems, and finding appropriate solutions for them.
It should be noted that IDEA is UNEP’s primary partner for implementing ecological projects in Azerbaijan. As a result of IDEA’s collaboration with UNEP, the “Green Week” project was carried out from November 12 to 16, 2012. Within the project, panel discussions, meetings with local students, and presentations of the TUNZA programme took place. Additionally, the International Youth Forum was held. During the forum, which included participation from local and international youth organizations, discussions were conducted on sustainable development issues, the outcomes of the "Rio+20" summit held in June 2012, and ongoing cooperation.
