The IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Protection) campaign has initiated a new project.

Within the framework of the project, local and foreign authors, experts, people involved in environmental science, as well as professors and graduate students are invited to write textbooks on environmental topics that can be used in extracurricular courses at secondary schools in Azerbaijan.

The aim of the project is to produce a book covering the most important environmental issues and the key concepts of environmental sustainability.

The book can be written by an individual author or in collaboration with other authors. However, if the book is written by several authors, the royalty will be divided among them.

The book can be written in either Azerbaijani or English. If it is written in English, IDEA will take responsibility for full translation and editing of the book.

Authors wishing to apply for the competition must submit their materials, including a proposed project timeline, initial topic and structure, a sample of writing, and expected outcomes (including publication date and contact information), along with a brief description and summary (maximum 1000 words) to [email protected]
. Personal information should not be included in the manuscript or summary. Anyone nominating a candidate should contact IDEA. Summaries and applications will be accepted until June 15.

Notification of acceptance will be sent to authors on July 15. Winners will be selected based on the quality of the writing, age, and originality of the proposal.

The winning author(s) will submit draft chapters of the book in stages according to the timeline. The final version must be submitted no later than December 2012. The book is planned to be published at the beginning of 2013.

The winning author or authors will receive a fee of 10,000 AZN (13,000 USD) for their work. All other expenses, including translation, publication, and distribution of the book, will be covered by IDEA.

Authors will receive half of the fee upon completing 50% of the book. The full fee will be paid after the work is fully completed.

The project is implemented by IDEA in cooperation with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
