IDEA Animal Care Center (IACC) officially begins its operations

As of March 1, the IDEA Animal Care Center (IACC) officially begins its operations. As previously reported, the preparatory work to create the necessary conditions for ensuring the welfare of animals at the Center has already been completed. The Center includes a clinic equipped with modern equipment, shelter blocks for dogs and cats, separate quarantine blocks, a foster care section, an animal hotel and salon, a playground, a dormitory, a conference hall, a café, and a shop.
As is known, the foundation of the IDEA Animal Care Center was laid in October 2014 by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union. At the end of last year, the construction of the Center was completed, and on November 10, the official opening of the complex took place with the participation of Leyla Aliyeva.
Although preparatory work has been carried out at the Center over the past three months, the doors of the veterinary clinic have been open to the public, and in parallel with organizing the reception of animals at the clinic, the Center’s staff have already provided medical services to more than 200 stray dogs and cats.
In addition to providing care for animals in critical condition, the IDEA Animal Care Center will focus primarily on sterilization, disease prevention, as well as fostering, responsible pet ownership, and promoting a humane approach to animals in addressing the problem of stray animals.
The Center’s veterinary clinic will serve both street and owned animals. All services for street animals are completely free of charge. In this regard, IACC calls on all animal lovers to contribute to the management of street animal populations by bringing dogs and cats they encounter to the Center for sterilization, vaccination, surgery, or treatment.
Regarding IACC’s CVNR (capture-vaccinate-neuter-release) program, a specially trained mobile team will operate at the Center for capturing animals, and staff will capture animals using the most humane methods. Sterilized and vaccinated dogs will be fitted with numbered ear tags, and cats will be marked by tipping the tip of their ear. The profiles and medical information of all animals will be entered into IACC’s special electronic database.
In the foster care section, dogs and cats that are considered more likely to be adopted due to their various characteristics are placed. These animals are sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped, and kept fully ready for potential owners. The profiles of animals available for foster care will be posted on the Center’s website and social media. Although IACC ensures that every animal in its care is healthy, comfortable, and well-fed, it will also work to find permanent homes for them and to increase people’s affection for stray animals.
Another essential area of the Center’s activity is promoting humane treatment of animals and responsible ownership, raising public awareness about animal welfare, and changing attitudes toward pets in Azerbaijan. The Center’s conference hall and other areas will be used for various events, presentations, and lectures related to animals. Extracurricular programs and events will be organized for children and youth to foster humane and responsible attitudes toward animals. Relevant awareness-raising activities will also be conducted among the population through IACC’s electronic resources and publications.
The Center will engage volunteers who are ready to help care for animals and who are concerned about the situation of stray animals. At the same time, relying on the donations and support of sponsors, the IDEA Animal Care Center accepts financial and other material donations from individuals and legal entities. Those wishing to become sponsors of the Center will receive various privileges and opportunities in return for their support.
