IDEA IB invites youth to participate in an international competition

IDEA Public Union invites nature-loving and creative youth aged 18-30 to participate in an international video competition jointly organized by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Global Environment Facility – UNDP Small Grants Programme (GEF-UNDP SGP), and the Connect4Climate program.
According to the competition rules, participants should reflect the role of youth in the fight against climate change in their videos. The video should be no longer than 3 minutes and cover the topics of "responsible production and consumption" or "climate-friendly jobs."
Two participants selected as winners will have the opportunity to attend the 24th UN Climate Change Conference (COP24) in Katowice, Poland, in December 2018. At the conference, the winners’ videos will be presented to a global audience, and they will have the opportunity to work with the UNFCCC communication team.
Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, stated in her speech: "Today's youth are completely different from the previous generation. From the moment they are born, they start hearing words like global warming, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and extreme weather. At the same time, they also hear words like electric cars, wind turbines, renewable energy sources, Sustainable Development Goals, and the Paris Agreement. Youth play a crucial role in accelerating climate action and are the most important agents of change. They are numerous and have great influence."
Participants who choose the "responsible production and consumption" category can include video footage related to emissions and waste reduction, minimizing overconsumption, sustainable fashion, economic exchange, and the promotion of reuse. Participants choosing the "climate-friendly jobs" category can include videos about jobs or entrepreneurship that support a healthy economy and impact climate change.
A jury will select several works based on the content, originality, technical parameters, and creativity of the submitted videos. Later, the selected videos will be presented to the public for online voting. The competition will be conducted through the tve (Television for Environment) platform.
IDEA calls on all high-potential youth to register as soon as possible.
The application deadline is August 31, 2018.
