A cleanup campaign was organized in the Shikh beach area by the IDEA Public Union.

On September 6, 2014, in connection with the “International Cleanup Week” celebrated worldwide every year, the IDEA Public Union organized a cleanup campaign in the Shikh beach area.

The purpose of the campaign, held with the support of “Clean City” JSC, was to collect waste in beach areas, involve young people in keeping natural areas clean, and at the same time, encourage people resting in coastal areas not to litter and to keep the area clean while enjoying their time.

The campaign took place under the slogan “Together for Nature during Cleanup Week” with the participation of about 100 volunteer youths. During the campaign, participants wore special gloves in accordance with hygiene rules and sorted the collected waste into food and non-food waste. The collected waste was transported to the Baku Balakhani Solid Household Waste Sorting Plant.

It should be noted that the IDEA Public Union conducts cleanup campaigns every September in various coastal areas of Baku city.
