IDEA Public Union has obtained the status of the official coordinator of the “Earth Hour” campaign in Azerbaijan

IDEA Public Union has once again obtained the status of the official coordinator in Azerbaijan for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) international “Earth Hour” campaign ([www.earthhour.org](http://www.earthhour.org)). Acting as the coordinator, within the framework of the “Earth Hour” campaign celebrating its 10th anniversary, IDEA plans to organize mass actions and events across the country.
As the world’s largest movement dedicated to the environment, “Earth Hour” mobilizes millions of people in the fight to stop climate change. Having started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, as a simple action of mass switching off lights, the “Earth Hour” campaign was marked in 2016 in 178 countries, 7,000 cities, and even at the International Space Station.
Held under the slogan “Shine a Light on the Climate Movement,” the “Earth Hour” campaign has led to a number of concrete environmental outcomes, including increasing global awareness on social networks and turning people into environmental activists.
Each year, on the last Saturday of March, during “Earth Hour” actions, the façade lights of famous buildings in major cities are switched off for one hour at 8:30 p.m. local time, and through this symbolic act, participants promote energy conservation.
IDEA Public Union invites government organizations, private institutions, as well as individuals wishing to participate in the “Earth Hour” campaign to be held in Baku on March 25, 2017, to contact the Public Union ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), tel. 497-6316).
