In connection with International Biodiversity Day, the IDEA campaign organized a seminar-training session.

The seminar, attended by more than 20 students with a particular interest in the environment and biodiversity conservation, was held at the IDEA Resource Center located at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event featured as an expert Elchin Sultanov, Chairman of the Ornithological Society of Azerbaijan and Doctor of Philosophy in Biological Sciences.

The seminar was conducted in an interactive format and was memorable for the engaging discussions of the young participants. During the event, it was especially noted that there are currently more than 15 million species of living organisms in the world, and hundreds of species face the threat of extinction every day.

The expert stated that if no measures are taken to protect the underwater living world, by 2100 more than half of all plant and animal species currently existing in the seas are at risk of extinction.

After the seminar concluded, with the joint participation of the expert speaking as a guest and the young participants, bird shelters prepared in accordance with the winning sketch of the “Bird Shelter Design” competition announced by the IDEA campaign in May 2012 were installed in the Philharmonic Garden.
