The IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Protection) campaign, in collaboration with "Earth Hour Azerbaijan," organized the "Earth Hour" initiative.

It is well known that in a globalizing world, with the development of the economy and science and technology, the volume of heat-trapping gases released into the atmosphere is increasing. As a result of these processes, our planet faces the global problem of climate change, which in turn leads to the emergence of a number of other environmental issues.

It should be noted that Earth Hour is a campaign initiated in 2009 by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) aimed at drawing attention to climate change and environmental protection. On the last Saturday of March each year, millions of people worldwide participate in this event by symbolically turning off electricity for one hour. In addition, the lighting of buildings that are symbols of major cities is switched off during Earth Hour.

Since one of the main focus areas of the IDEA campaign, launched by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, is the problem of climate change, the campaign always supports any local or international initiatives aimed at combating climate change.

In this regard, the IDEA campaign, in cooperation with "Earth Hour Azerbaijan," carried out this year’s Earth Hour event in Azerbaijan not only in the city of Baku but also in Ganja, Lankaran, Lahij, the Maiden Tower, and other prominent buildings with high electricity consumption.
