The IDEA campaign has launched an international ecological camp in Qabala.

The international camp for young ecologists, titled “The Role of Youth in Ecological Governance: Today and Tomorrow,” has started in Qabala.
The purpose of the international event is to coordinate the efforts of society, and especially young people, to prevent the dangers posed by environmental problems.
The Qabala camp, attended by representatives from more than 35 countries, aims to determine what governments and societies can do in this field.
Opening the event with a speech, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva stated that young people bear a special responsibility to prevent environmental problems from turning into serious consequences. She spoke about the work carried out in recent years in Azerbaijan in protecting the Caspian Sea, establishing new forest areas, and preserving rare animal species:
“2010 was declared the ‘Year of Ecology’ in Azerbaijan, and in recent years, significant efforts have been made to improve the ecological situation in the country. Environmental protection is our collective responsibility. The younger generation should not remain indifferent to ecological issues related to climate change, carbon emissions, the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, processes in the world’s oceans, droughts, as well as humanitarian crises in different parts of the world.”
Speaking at the event, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Baghirov stated that the increase in Azerbaijan’s financial resources in recent years has created opportunities for greater investment in the field of ecology. The minister recalled that the Oghuz-Qabala-Baku pipeline was put into operation to provide the Azerbaijani population with drinking water. He also noted that measures are being taken to prevent the discharge of polluted waste into the Caspian Sea.
Later, Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov emphasized that young people play a significant role in addressing ecological problems. According to him, in order to achieve progress in this field, it is necessary for young people around the world to act from a common platform. In this regard, the Qabala camp can play an important role.
