As a result of anthropogenic processes occurring in the modern world, the rapid increase of global environmental problems on our planet is causing the degradation of ecosystems and the destruction of plant and animal species.

Such a rapid decline in biodiversity does not spare bird species, which are an integral part of nature.

As we know, the IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Protection) campaign announced a competition titled “Designing Shelters for Birds” in May 2012 on the occasion of International Migratory Bird Day, aiming to increase public involvement in the protection of migratory birds and to foster a special caring attitude towards nature.
A special jury was organized to evaluate over 100 submitted works, and the winner of the first place, distinguished both ecologically and visually, was 26-year-old Tatyana Burdyugina from Russia.

It should be recalled that shelters based on the selected design will be installed in various parks and residential areas, including Baku, Vilnius, Moscow, and London, by IDEA campaign’s mobile volunteer groups to provide safe shelters for migratory birds with the arrival of spring.

It should be noted that the IDEA campaign is the sole partner of the “International Migratory Bird Campaign” in the South Caucasus and was initiated on July 12, 2011, by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
