Informative posters about snake species were prepared on the initiative of IDEA.

As is known, snakes are widely distributed in Azerbaijan, and with the arrival of the summer season, an increase in the activity of reptiles is observed. Considering that snake bites, characteristic for this season, begin to rise from April-May, the IDEA Public Union, as a leading organization in environmental protection and nature conservation, together with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has prepared special informational posters to educate the public about venomous, semi-venomous, and non-venomous snake species.
To ensure that people are informed and cautious when encountering snakes and snake bites, the informational poster has been distributed to all higher and secondary education institutions across the country, all “ASAN Service” centers, specially protected natural areas under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and other similar public places.
Compared to previous years, a recent increase in the number of snake bites has been observed. For this reason, the IDEA Public Union calls on everyone to be careful and attentive when walking or working in areas where snakes may be present during hot weather:
“When encountering a snake, try to calmly move away from it. Do not attempt to catch or provoke the snake under any circumstances. When walking in open areas, always check the path ahead using a long stick. Reptiles may hide under dried tree trunks, so do not lift or turn them over, and avoid sitting on the ground in these places. Also, carefully inspect stones or tree trunks before sitting on them.”
State institutions and private organizations wishing to obtain the special informational posters on venomous, semi-venomous, and non-venomous snake species, prepared on the initiative of the IDEA Public Union, are requested to contact IDEA (Tel: 497 63 16).
