A new project dedicated to the collection and recycling of paper and plastic waste has been launched.

As of February 23, IDEA Public Union is launching a new project dedicated to the collection and recycling of paper and plastic waste, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and “Azersun” company, within the framework of the waste management program. Within the project, it is planned to place special sorting bins for paper and plastic waste in higher education institutions.

As a pilot phase of the project, a total of 200 containers have been delivered to Baku State University, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan University of Languages, Azerbaijan Technical University, and Azerbaijan State University of Economics.

The purpose of the project is to strengthen environmental awareness regarding waste management, contribute to the protection of trees and natural resources, the preservation of nature, and the maintenance of ecological balance by promoting recycling.

The containers placed within the framework of this project for sorting and collecting paper and plastic waste will play an important role in fostering a sense of ecological responsibility among students in higher education institutions, reducing paper waste, and contributing to the overall protection of the environment and natural resources.

As is known, considering the importance of informing the population in the field of waste management for the economical and efficient use of natural resources, IDEA Public Union has been implementing the “Let’s Turn Every Paper into a Leaf” project for the collection and recycling of paper waste since February 2014. Within the framework of this project, more than 600 tons of paper waste have been collected and sent for recycling to date.

It should be noted that, within the framework of the project, it is planned to gradually place special bins for paper and plastic waste in all higher and secondary education institutions.

Project partners invite all students and pupils to be attentive and properly sort waste when placing it in the bins, taking into account that green bins are for paper waste and blue bins are for plastic waste.
