During the fish reproduction migration period, an action was held on the section of the Kura River passing through the Bankə settlement of the Neftçala district.

Nearly 150 volunteers, as well as local youth and representatives of the public, participated in the action. Equipped with sanitary-compliant supplies and special boats, the youth cleaned the Kura River and its banks from various household wastes and synthetic fishing nets that caused mass fish catches. As a result, about 1 ton of collected waste was delivered to the Neftçala District Landfill using special vehicles. During the action, local residents were also informed about the pollution of the river with waste and the harmful effects of using illegal fishing tools on the environment of the Caspian Sea and the Kura River, as well as on the fauna. At the end, certificates were awarded to the participants of the action.

The main goal of the action was to prevent pollution and littering of the Kura River banks, ensure cleanliness in these areas, and raise public awareness, particularly regarding the damage caused to the Kura River and, consequently, to the Caspian fauna by discarded household waste.

Research shows that the increasing amount of household and industrial waste dumped into rivers is one of the main reasons for the sharp decline in fish reproduction in the Kura River, including the Caspian Sea. Taking this into account, the IDEA Public Union regularly organizes such cleaning actions along the Caspian coasts, including the banks of the Kura River, to protect, preserve, and increase the bioresources of the Caspian Sea.

Regular cleaning actions on the banks of the Kura River play a significant role in maintaining the natural balance, mobilizing society for the protection of rivers, restoring ecological balance in the area, contributing to environmental improvement, and promoting ecological culture and care for nature among people.

The IDEA Public Union expresses its gratitude to all nature enthusiasts who joined the action for their activity and contribution to a healthy environment. The Public Union calls on everyone to approach nature protection initiatives with sensitivity and to maintain the cleanliness of our coasts.
